A short history...

Crossed by the Meuzin river, the village is composed by Villy-le-Brûlé and Villy-le-Moutier. In Gallo-Roman period the great road Lyon-Trève crossed in Villy-le-Brûlé the East-West road from Dole and Besançon to Orléans.

A monastery was founded in Villy in the 5th century, that explains the name of "moutier". It was one of the first abbeys. During the religions’ wars in the 16th century and then during the Revolution, most of building were demolished : castle, mill…

Now, we find agricultural, forest activities and ponds.
