A short history...
Founded a few years after Saint-Nicolas-les-Cîteaux, in the early 17th century, Saint Bernard (in memory of Bernard de Clairvaux, priest of Cîteaux) is located along the old Roman road. So nowadays it is still a "street-village".
Some families coming from north-east of France, built typical house with a barn placed side by side with the house, on the contrary of traditional houses of the region. Each inhabitant has to cultivate a patch of land. The harvest was collected in the monks of Citeaux’s barns, whose this of Bretigny in Saint Bernard.
