A short story...
Gilly has a celtic origin.
Thanks to the fertile soul, agriculture and breeding are the main activities. Nowadays, the cheese of Gilly is one of the most important local product of Burgundy.
At first, Gilly belonged to the Abbey Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris, and in 1299 it was given to the monks of Citeaux. The castel was their residence.
