A short history...
Some traces of a gallo-roman village, partly built on piles have been found in Flagey-Echezaux. It was located on the marshy border of Eduens (in the south) and Lingons (in the north).
Flagey is known for the agriculture, but from the 12th century, monks of Citeaux had a vineyard in the village and since this time wines of Flagey-Echezeaux have been as famous as the neighbouring villages of Vougeot or Vosne-Romanée.
Discovery...
The little church of 15th century, built instead of a oldest church already known in the 12th century, is dedicated to the Virgin’s Assumption. It has been often removed.
