A short history...
The name of Comblanchien could come from “La Combe aux Chiens”, a favourite hunting place of Dukes of Burgundy. But it also could come from the name of a Merovingian woman : Curtis Bunciana. We find some written signs of her in 874.
The Resistance was very important in Comblanchien during the Second World War. During the night of 21st August 1944, 52 houses were burnt and many inhabitants were shot or deported. The village became a martyr village and received the War’s cross and the Vermeil Star.
The stone of Comblanchien is a famous French white and pink marble and it has been exploited since 1850.
Comblanchien is also famous for its vineyard.
