A short history...

The name of Agencourt appeared for the first time in 1110, but it has been before occupied since Gallo-Roman period and some roads went from Premeaux-Prissey to Saint Bernard through Agencourt to reach the Roman road Beaune-Dijon.

A castle has been built in the 13th century instead of a hunting-house used by the Dukes of Burgundy.

Even Louis XIII came to this castle to hunt.

In part demolished during the French Revolution, it became an orphanage for young girls in 1878.
