Grotte du Maquis - Arcenant


Heritage from Arcenant

On 15th June 1944, german troops and some persons of french Milice attacked about one hundred members of the Resistance who took refuge in the place called « The Cave ». After fights there were 39 dead persons among assailants and six dead and 4 injured  among members of resistance. Six dead persons are Serge Boillereau, Ferruccio Borillo, Louis Evrard, Jean Fiorese, Jean Poulet et André Rebill.  This fight is celebrated every year on the place of fights. You can see the cave on the pedestrian trail GR7 , at the departure of Arcenant.
