Magny-lès-Villers


Magny take its name from « manse », which, in Middle-Ages means a piece of raised land where is a house. Many springs are present in Magny-les-Villers. The stone is easily reached and since a long time people of the village and of surroundings used it. The white limestone, french Carrare, is included in the stone field known as Comblanchien.
The first mentions of the village date from 761. The original village was located more in the north, but it has been deserted after ravages of plague and famine in XI th century.
